Shelli's Story
Life
Hmmm. Let's see--My life. I went to Conway schools up until 8th grade, when my Mom moved us to Little Rock. After I graduated from Mills High School, LR, Arkansas (1984), I moved to Florida and lived with my grandparents for a while. I took some classes at Pasco Hernando Community College there and earned an
Associates Degree in Medical Lab Technology.
In 1986, I decided to join the Army so that I could "be all that I could be", I became a Pharmacy Specialist/Combat Medic, then sort of "disappeared" and lost touch with everybody for a while. To this day, I still only know where a few of my "lost friends" are.
I met my 1st husband while stationed at Ft. Sam Houston, Tx and we married in 1986. I was stationed at Ft. Hunter Liggett, CA for about a year and ran the base pharmacy there. I injured my back and right knee in a bad accident and was medically retired out of the army in 1987. Patrick and I moved to his home town of Apache Junction, AZ, where we lived for 2 years before deciding to move back to Little Rock, AR. Shortly after the move, we divorced.
In 1990, I married Keith Post, my high school sweetheart, whom I ran into in church and started dating again, after my divorce from hubby #1.--Ain't that sweet? :) In 1994 my son Matthew was born. He is truely God sent. See, Keith and I had lost our first 3 children due to miscarriage and stillbirth. My son is my pride and joy! He is 18 mow and almost 6 feet tall--- MUCH, bigger than me--LOL.
I graduated from UCA, in Conway, with my Bachelors Degree in Nursing, in May of 2002. I worked as a Nurse (RN) at a hospital in Little Rock, until I had to retire in 2012, due to medical issues.
In 2011, I was nominated to become a member of the Cambridge Who's Who in America---A very big honor.
I'm single again now, after 15 years of marriage, and am doing my best to raise my son on my own. When I have time to myself, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, singing and dancing (I'm a karaoke junkie), playing with my keyboard or guitar, going to concerts, watching movies, and playing with my pets. We have 3 dogs (Posh, Satin & Riley), and 2 cats (Gandalf & Xena). I also enjoy traveling, art, writing songs and poetry, riding horses and motorcycles, and just hanging out around home.
My son and I used to take Taekwondo lessons together but that sort of fizzled out. He went to senior brown belt and I went to green. Matthew got burned out on it and with the demands on me from school and work, I could not attend classes everyday like he did. The school we were attending closed down also.
Matt enjoys playing basketball and spending time with his girlfriend, when he has free time, and he LOVES playing with his XBOX or on the computer. He graduated from Greenbrier High School last year and is currently working at McDonalds in Morrilton, where we both are now living....Expand for more
Currently, I am volunteering as a nurse on clinic days and training to be the Administrator at the Conway County Christian Clinic here in Morrilton. We really love it here. The people are AWESOME!!!
This year, I will celebrate my 47th birthday! All I can say is wow! Life has really been a trip! We are also getting ready for our 30th reunion! My friend Sheri and I are organizing it this year.
That's my life story and I'm stickin' to it! I really can't think of much else I can tell. If you want to know anything else about me, you'll just have to ask.
God bless!

School
I grew up, all over really. My father was a Marine and we moved around a lot. I went to several schools over the years. I graduated from Mills High School in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1984.
One of my funniest moments from school was when I was in Junior high and a boy I liked walked up to me and asked me to go with him. I turned around and very seriously said "go where?"---all I can think now when I remember that moment is ----Here's yer Sign!---
One of my craziest, and stupidest moments, was after my friend, Sheri, and I went to a Rush concert--I was standing on top of her car "surfing" while she was driving down Geyer Springs in Little Rock.
These guys in another car yelled at us and asked if we wanted to party with them. I yelled back and told them no thanks, we're doing just fine on our own. Thank God I don't drink or do drugs! I can't immagine what kind of crap I would've been into had I been drunk or high that night! Ha!~
Another memory was on "Senior Skip Day"-Was there ever really such a thing or did we just make it up?--anyway, Angie B., and I went over to McCllellan and picked up Keith and James (our boyfriends at the time)--We went out to Burns park for a while--on the way back we had to stop for gas and guess who was at the gas station. ---Mr Blendon and my parents. Need I say more?
Well, Mom told me to drop off everyone and get my tail home. So I was gonna be good and do what she said, right? NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On the way, Keith and James yell--"Stop the Car!" They jumped out and ran off with Angie and I just sitting there. Then after a while they came back dragging a 7 foot tall tree. They opened the hatch on my mom's car and start to put the tree in the car---only then did I reallize what the tree was---Yup! Marijuana!---We took the "tree" over to James' Garage and stuck it up in there. After that I made them wash and vacum Mom's car.-----------Man those were crazy days!
As for teachers that inspired me most, there were many along the way. Two of the ones that stick out in my head though were Mr. Hathcote (God rest his soul) and Ms. Larson, Both of which enhanced my love and appreciation for music and the arts.
I guess that's all for now. If I think of anything else to share I'll add it later.
